Feel-good 2022 Christmas movies to watch in February 2023
Get through the wintry blues with these wholesome Christmas films
Dear hopeful reader,
I do some things backwards. Like play The Last of Us Part II before TLOU Part I. Or watch a movie sequel first. And sometimes I watch Christmas films way past Christmas and New Years. Are you like me? Then you’ll enjoy watching the following Christmas movies in February.
They can be silly and funny-bad (is that a word?) in certain scenes. But they’re also touching and have an overall good moral message for both children and adults. And they guarantee a dash of hope and merriment during wintry blues. Watch in any order. Watch again and again.
#1: The Royal Nanny
Claire is an M15 agent tasked to protect the royal family. She goes under cover as their new nanny. Not only is she challenged with the perils of the job, but also the mischief of the children, and their uncle with whom she eventually falls in love.
In this film, Claire knows what loneliness and longing for a family is. She grew up in foster care system. So trusting others and letting in their love and care is at odds with the obligations of her job, her lone-wolf exterior, and her lack of healthy family dynamics. A fun, sweet, moving film!
#2: The Noel Diary
Jake Turner is a best-selling author beloved by many in the public eye. In his private life, he’s all alone and estranged from his family. One day he gets a call about needing to settle his belated mother’s estate. In his childhood home, he gets an unexpected knock by Rachel Campbell.
Rachel is searching for her birth mother, Noel, who was Jake’s nanny when he was a child, although he doesn’t remember much of her. The two embark on a journey of uncovering truths and reconciling relationships and the present. This movie inspires courage, forgiveness, and empathy.
#3: Christmas at the Golden Dragon
The Golden Dragon is a restaurant that brings others together and supports them, especially during the Holidays when times can be hard for some. So the community is shocked and heartbroken to learn this is the last year they will run their operations.
Every character in the Christmas at the Golden Dragon has a story to tell, and everyone is connected to each other one way or another. And they all come together for one last hurrah in love and unity. The collective spirit is felt deeply in this movie.
#4: Something from Tiffany’s
Two couples. Two presents. One ring. An accident. A mix-up. And secrets unravel what was glaringly obvious. While fate brings true soulmates together.
This is a marvelous escapade that challenges one to know themselves and what they actually want in life. And if you love a good cornetto (not croissant), then Something from Tiffany’s may be for you.
#5: Our Italian Christmas Memories
The Colluccia family are on a mission to recreate their late grandmother’s famous pasta sauce so their Christmas together is memorable, especially for their grandfather who struggles with dementia and may not remember their next time together.
This film can hit home for anyone who has a loved one with Alzheimer’s. So it can be painful at times to watch. But it has a lot of positive and hopeful moments too. It teaches about the importance of family, togetherness, forgiveness, and acceptance.
#6: Falling for Christmas
Lindsay Lohan is back, baby!
Lohan plays Sierra who is a spoiled heiress of her father’s luxury ski hotel. She’s dating Tad, a social media influencer (what a pair!). Both go on a ski trip to get engaged but unfortunately get into an accident. Sierra is discovered and taken to the hospital by a certain Jake Russell.
She’s struck with amnesia and doesn’t remember who she is or where she lives anymore. Jake takes her in to his bed and breakfast lodge until someone can find her. There she learns the meaning of hard work and true love. A great revival for Lindsay!
These Christmas films can be cheesy and cringe-y and far-fetched, but maybe that’s the point? We need films to take us away from reality, at least for an hour and a half. And to make us feel warm, cozy, and good. What’s your Christmas movie recommendation?
Yours hopefully,
Nadia
Interesting list, will need to check these out. One xmas movie I can recommend is Violent Night. The movie is about Santa helping out a family that's been taken hostage by some baddies. Not only does he bring gifts, he also brings the gift of life to a little girl and her father. What a champ! And he's played by the dancing guy from Stranger Things. Give it a try!
