There's something so cool about writing a review -- which typically is something that has to answer all your questions -- and doing it like this, where it instead almost "questions all your answers." Haha!

Love it.

Wow…that is a thoughtful reflection! I was hoping to at least make the ‘review’ evocative and intrigue the audience.

The spiraling into darkness, here it is!

Hahah. Definitely.

Almost want to play it, play the first one first, but then realize I don't want to spend the time, don't have the time. :O

In another world you are already playing, within that world, you are playing both. Bahaha. By the way, you can play the second without playing the first.

Thou shalt not tempt meee! It's on PS5 isn't it... dammit

Join the cult of the tree!

Or wait until it's part of PS Plus like Mafia II is this month, which I then add to the ever-growing library of games I never get around to playing!

You will be waiting a long time. Or maybe you already have and it is already there.

Alan Sleep III play now Wake tomorrow! 😅 I will see once I am finished with Spherean! Priorities...

I really wish this sort of exploration and artistic admiration of video games was more appreciated in the medium. So many reviews talk about the mechanics and hold back the creative power of titles like Alan Wake. Appreciate this very much Nadia

Thank you so much, Taegan! There is validity in discussing mechanics, but I do appreciate when reviewers or essayists explore the depths of art and creativity. I love that Alan Wake II focuses on the power of art, and I wanted to approach this beautiful game from an artistic side though I had other ideas initially.

"When you’ve been led here first, you’ve been here before, déjà entendu ghostly echoes whispered between shadows of a future passed, a past foreshadowed" Love this, your musicality.

This is really nice ! Loving the game so far and so got inspired to add a little bit to the end of your poem:

You are you are you realizing—you've been

To a deeper, darker ocean green

With waves both wilder and more serene

On and off Again and again and again

Your continuation is perfection, which I absolutely got! I am a bit jealous you are still playing it. I consumed it too fast and want to play again already! Haha.

I'd prefer to binge it actually, but circumstance dictate otherwise, haha!

You should wait for when they release New Game Plus, which is supposed to have a new difficulty with a few additional elements including an extended ending.

Binge-ing is fun, but I swear I started seeing shades in my own home from the lack of sleep cause I needed to finish it so fast. Oh my god. I cannot wait. I look forward to the DLCs too.

So am I. I sincerely hope AW2 becomes a breakout hit for Remedy, cause we absolutely need more AAA games like this. Plus, that way we can get more Control and other Connected Universe titles.

Expand full comment

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. We need this. I read a lot of the trouble was that the publishers owned the rights for so long and some didn't want sequels. However, I hope they see how successful AW2 has been among the gamers and trust in Remedy. Also, I so wish for the cast to come to Game Awards (and they win GOTY) and do a little music routine WITH the skerry enemies. Omg. I would lose my mind.

Very clever and lovely, Nadia.

How far through are you? Does this mean you've finished it?

Thank you so much, dear Nathan! I did finish it a week ago. Now I want to play again! Haha.

Awesome. Jelly.

How many hours did it take you? Did you prefer Saga or Alan's storyline?

Expand full comment

I think almost 30 hours. Just exploring and discovering as much as possible was super fun. It's hard to say. I like both. They both have tense and thrilling moments. I would be so excited if you'll get to play it soon! :D

I really hope I do. Everything I've read/seen sounds sooo good.

It's such a phenomenal game. You don't need to play the first one to appreciate the second one. However, it does help to understand the whole Remedy universe by playing all of them lol. Appreciate you!
