I wasn't fortunate to be raised on poetry, but when I come across poems I pay attention; they reveal more than prose at times.
And your poem including the context it's set in reminds me of a Carl Jung quote that goes like this:
"A particularly beautiful woman is a source of terror. As a rule, a beautiful woman is a terrible disappointment."
So much wanting for her, yet she shines for no one!
"But I twist your dreams / Turn bitter your kisses" Too visceral, too real, yet it resonates.
To all the beautiful women I have been blessed to share fine moments, even as little as a smile and heartfelt glance, with but never had a while longer beyond those cherished moments, who I might as well have followed just to touch "your" shine, may your shine never be constrained by the wants of any one person however hard the irony is on that person.
Thanks Nadia for sharing. The poem does hit home in bittersweet ways for me as a man lol :-)
Love the dramatic irony here!!! Thanks for posting!!!!
Haha! I am glad you noticed that. Thank you so much, Jennifer!
Love this Nadia and the source material too. I need to rewatch The Lost Boys. Such a great film.
Thank you so much, dear Kristin! It truly has all the good stuff you need in campy, sexy horror! Haha.
Interesting idea. Brilliantly done! 👏
Thank you so much, dear Leanne!
