Hi Nadia, that is such a cool dream. I love dreams and interpretations and I feel like they are secret messages! I flew over to etymology and not only the horse part but the quest part stuck out to me. 'To search out a thing'. Maybe it's electronic too like e-mail. (e-quest?) The sky realm, the atmosphere, is very transcendent and spiritual. Maybe when the body is weak your spirit is able to search with strength as a horse and also in spiritual realms. When we are at our most vulnerable, God whispers strength, to our spirits. You are a warrior; that we know! ❤️

Dreams are so personal too. Objects, the way we feel about them, are tailored for us. So take what is personal to you. My wife struggles with autoimmune issues; pain and weakness are no joke. I'm glad you were encouraged. 🙏

You're absolutely right. Even if it doesn't quite make sense. But you sure made sense of it! I'm sorry your wife is dealing with autoimmune issues. It's horrible. I wish her strength and for more days of joy.

Wow. Thank you for this wondrous interpretation. You may be right. That lifted me up, thank you so much!

How fascinating to find an unknown word running through your subconscious! I'm glad your dream spilled the secret to you. I've never had that experience, though I frequently have strange little tunes that repeat over and over through my dreams, which I've never heard in the waking world. The brain is a strange place indeed.

Expand full comment

Wow! That is fascinating, Wendy! You could compose them if you're musically inclined! Indeed, the brain is a magnificent organ full of boundlessness.

If I were a composer (and not just someone who plays other people's music), I probably would!

Well, that would have been awesome!

Sorry you have been feeling so unwell. That so sounds like something I would have as I am waking up. I get it a lot. Sometimes they are messages or seem like titles of books or poems or characters. I once seen the name "Rosalind Piper" written down. Another time I had the phrase "connection isn't the way to the light, loneliness is." I once had the title of the a children's book and I only remember it was a list of three things and the last one was "the wishing tree." It sounded really catchy and I wrote it down in the writing app of my old phone that broke and now I can't remember it. Another was an image of an orange book with a gold embossed spinning circle and the title "Life's Tantalising Secrets" or something like that. It happens a lot (and often phrases with obscure word like yours that I need to look up for exact meanings" but my mind has gone blank now. I hope your headaches ease and your week is better than your weekend 🙂🧡

Oh thank you, sweet dear. <3 Wow, that is amazing. Your mind is a well of imaginative words. I especially love "connection isn't the way to the light, loneliness is." It rings truth and wisdom.

We'll make it a verb anyway! Why not? Language was created by humans, why can we not participate in this creation process. Let's equester away, across that perfect blue canvass, cloud parched–off into a coy horizon.

That is beautiful, Sam! Hahah, yes, I'm all for making nouns into verbs and vice versa, making up new words! :D

Playing video games all weekend... oh my, those days are long gone. Wonderful imagery there, mount the sky and ride away into space... the final frontier. Have to read about that online submission process next. I use https://literarium.net/ currently (switched from submission grinder).

Hahaha...that is true. Alas! Thanks so much for sharing this great resource.

So sorry to hear you've been down with a headache, Nadia! Migraines run in my family though I have escaped that particular torture. Grapefruit juice is another medication interactor to be careful of... Feel better soon!

Expand full comment

Ooof sorry for that family plight, but I'm glad you don't have that! I hope you're feeling better. Thank you for the warning. I'm glad I don't eat or drink that. Too bitter! LOL

Once again, I’m sorry to hear you weren’t feeling well. I have never woken up with strange phrases stuck to conscious mind, but I did have a vivid dream experience I’ll never forget. One night a few years ago, I thought I’d woken up in a sweat. I was looking at the open window which was flapping a little and a powerful, wet wind was rushing through. Suddenly, lightning burst through the window and hit me straight in the chest. Even after all these 4-5 years I remember the exact shade of blue of that streak of lightning. I didn’t feel anything when it hit me, and that’s when I realized I was dreaming. Sheeesh. I still wonder if it meant anything.

Expand full comment

Thank you, Andrei! Wow! That is a powerful dream. Maybe you can write about it! I envision a superhero being born through this lightning haha.

Hey, yeah, that's a fun idea! Might play around with it at some point.

My mom always warned me about matcha. But she’s funny and links it to the nuclear incident off Japans coast a few years ago.

Expand full comment

I remember about that. I mean, even without that, matcha is potent and absorbs all kinds of things. One has to worry about the dosage, quality, and purity. There are so many sellers but not many growers who ensure it's good. But also, green tea can naturally give side effects to people with diabetes, who are prone to kidney stones, those with arthritic issues.

Expand full comment

Oh no! I'm sorry your weekend didn't go as planned! Also, was the matcha part of the issue? I know it was *an* issue for your autoimmune issues... I hope you're having lighter days now.

The subconcious is a silly thing, isn't it? So complex! I like the idea of riding the sky, like even the sky can be conquered by you! I've learned in my NLP certification that the subconcious can have it's own little language it can understand even if we consciously can't. It's, of course, still fun to put together!

I don't think I've had words repeat for me or stand out from a dream before, but I have needed to write some down (it's rare) that just stood out. If it does happen, you can bet it's during a shower haha!

Expand full comment

Thank you, Cierra. I definitely feel some issues have lifted. But I have overall not been feeling so great lately. I'll be seeing my new doctor next week. Hopefully he has answers or we'll do more testing.

Wow, yes, I guess the subconscious knows more than we do! The brain is a powerful organ whose potential we don't even use fully. But we could! Subconscious mind is part of that. That is awesome. And of course, inspiration of the showers. Something about it, words just keep falling, don't they! Hahah.

Expand full comment

Those shower thoughts I swear!

And understood! I always wanna wish people the best, and I know it's not always what comes in the moment. I hope more answers for clarity will come for you next week, too!

Oh please don't feel bad at all. You didn't say anything wrong. Your sweet words mean so much to me. <3

Expand full comment

Oh no worries! It's so hard to convey tone but it was truly a comment trying not to dismiss what you're going through with more, "Feel better soon/it'll all be okay!" when sometimes, it's just not!

But I still hope things improve regardless (does that make sense? Haha I'm sorry!).

And thank you!

I wouldn't even be offended by that lol. It's natural for us to want others to feel better. I appreciate you so much! I hope soon too. (Not soon enough lol!)

Haha glad to know it! And of course!! Sooner! SOONER!! Ahaha!

I had a chance to play the server slam for a few hours, too. I had a blast and can’t wait to carve out a some time for the full release. I know a few other writers are planning to play - we should create a clan, no? Even if we never play together, it could be fun just to do it

Expand full comment

Woo hoo! Which classes did you get to play? And of course, I would so love that. Let me know when you make it.

Expand full comment

I tried the Necro (love) and sorcerer (okay). What about you two?

Once the game is released I’ll set up the clan. Any ideas on a name? We could literally just call it the Substack Crew or something cheesy

Expand full comment

Omg I love the necro too! I thought the sorcerer and rogue were okay. I also tried the Druid, but I realized I don't very much like to tank. I love The Substack Crew. Simple!

Hey Nadia,

Sorry to hear you weren't well. Hope that the headaches and pains are easing and that you have found some time to escape.

I LOVE when random words/phrases appear. In fact, that's the entire inspiration for "Brae's meteorite". The phrase "oracle on hill" hit me one day. I had no idea what it meant. But then, suddenly, maybe I did. And thus it spawned Renna and Brae :D

Equester ... sky ... horses. Surely this is your brain telling you you need to go pay the new Zelda game, Tears of the Kingdom??!

I know you're maybe not that into RPGs, but this is an escape like no other. I place BotW in one of my all-time favourite games, but this -- somehow -- is already exceeding that game.

RE: DIV. I played the last beta but not this one. I loved Diablo as a kid/teenager. DII was just wonderful, going to a friends house for LAN parties. Good times. DIV seems to bring back some of that grittiness. I'm hopeful for a good release, but I really need to build a new PC to play it properly. This old thing I'm typing on right now is showing its age.

Take care and get well. 🤗

Aww, thank you Nathan. That is amazing how your stories came to be. It's like the universe (or whatever is out there or in us) feeding us words and us weaving these words together. You may be right, maybe I should try Zelda?! Aww, that is awesome you had great experiences with Diablo. I remember being so spooked by the first one. I recently replayed the second one, but I wasn't enjoying it for some reason. But D4, I like! I hope you can get to play it. You take care and have a lovely week!

Hi Nadia. I'm sorry you weren't feeling well. That is no fun. As for your question about making up words in a dream, I do this often. When I was younger, I used to remember most of my dreams for much of the following day. But the older I get, the quicker I forget my dreams. Nowadays, they're entirely gone within an hour or so, including the made-up words. :)

Thank you, Jim! I know, same for me. If you do ever remember, please do share your made up phrases!

Thank you so much, Garrett! I appreciate your words of encouragement. Wow, that is A DREAM. I hear parents keep their cribs just in case for a second or third baby, you never know ;D. And sometimes, they give one away to a friend who just had a baby. Why waste a perfectly great crib! Money doesn't grow on trees, and I know how expensive baby stuff can get, oof! Think of it as a funny dream, and that rude person to be a clown. XD
