It's honestly so lovely that you kept in touch with her. Think of all the teachers all over the world that see thousands of students through education each year and likely never hear from them again. I'm sure it meant so much to her that you paid her visits and thought of her.

Beautifully written.

Thank you so much, Nathan! And yeah, the relationship she had with the class I was a part of was special, for sure. Her daughters were shocked to see us at the wake, but we had never even considered not going. She was like a distant relative to us.

The feeling of this eulogy is tremendous. It’s bittersweet and kind and reminiscent of a place and time. It also shows the importance of keeping in touch, as you never know when paths may cross again, even after death.

Thanks so much for sharing it Andrei and thank you Nadia for hosting.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read, Taegan! And yeah, I had a lot of food for thought after she passed. I never want to experience the feeling of not having said everything I wanted to say, ever again... I suppose this is a testament to living in the present and never leaving for tomorrow what you can do today. You never know, tomorrow might never come.

Such poignant thoughts, Taegan! Thanks so much for stopping by and reading.

Teachers, for many hours of the day, really are surrogate parents - we remember them all our lives. Lovely words to honor her, Andrei.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Andrei. I saw an article somewhere that talked about how strange it is to see someone look youthful in their final resting place. Probably why your teacher looked exactly the same!

It was the same with my mom; she looked the best she has in like... A decade. And she was a youthful-looking woman! She looked like she was napping.

I'm glad you were able to keep in touch with your teacher, and for her to have such an impact to do so and to keep returning to her period says a lot to me!

Loved this piece.
