Enjoy the break! (and thanks for the shoutout!) I sense a slight shift in my internal world, so I fear I'll be taking my foot off the gas soon.

The good/bad thing about a personal newsletter/blog is that they can suffer from an irregular rhythm - I tend to go like a phoenix, a period of manic posting and then a fallow time of gathering myself and reading books.

We'll see...predictions are hard, especially about one's own mood.

Thank you for gracing us with such fantastic work! And yes, yes, you're on point with that. It's okay to take a break and to post irregularly to find your rhythm. Your well-being is the most important thing.

Thank you so much for the shoutout, my dear, and I hope you have a marvelous trip to visit your parents - sounds long overdue! It's entirely possible Substack will collapse while you are on vacation, you are the angel whispering "grow" to our little blades of grass. 💜💜💜

What a list! I've already clicked on several I hadn't seen, so thanks so much for your generosity as always, Nadia.

We'll miss you, but it sounds like a perfect trip. Maybe some pics (peekaboo!) from the trip for when you return? I've only ever been to Montreal once, and it was in winter for skiing.

Woo hoo, I hope you'll enjoy, Nathan! I'll be sure to share photos and peekaboos afterwards. That is so cool. It must have been super cold though. You take care, okay!

There's nothing quite like some time away from creating, to let the fields rest and new life to settle in before emerging from the soil. Enjoy Montreal and family and anything else you get up to. Montreal in the summer is a beautiful thing!

By the way. Since you mentioned you want to read graphic novels, I HIGHLY recommend you check out the Black Hammer series. It’s my absolute favourite comic book in existence. The main story is great, but it’s got a lot of spin-offs and one-offs that make up the World of Black Hammer and some of them are even better than the main issues. I could talk at length about it. It’s a masterpiece.

Speaking of graphic novels, be sure at some time in your life to read Dark Knight Returns (Miller), Saga of the Swamp Thing (Moore, volume one at least), and if you read "300," get a big physical copy--the size of the book creates a different experience when reading it.

Alan Moore's providence is great too, but really messed up and there's two scenes that nobody will like. Providence only really works if you're fairly familiar with Lovecraft though, so you have to pair it with a plan to read the referenced works before each chapter--which is a unique experience, and a really rewarding one to combine all the layers involved, and I loved it. But yeah, those two unpleasant scenes are really unpleasant, so feel free to shy away.

oh--Black Science has some of the best art / layout btw. The story is decent, but I want to cut up my copy and turn the pages into posters

I'm clicking "also share to notes" as an experiment because I don't know what that checkbox does. I don't know what I'm sharing--the article? Or the comment with a link to the article? Let's find out...

Let's find out! Haha.

These are all excellent recommendations. Thank you, Nathan! I of course always prefer physical copies when it comes to graphic novels. Just touching them, looking at all the details, what an experience!
