beautiful words, Nadia. you are an immense force. nothing can be taken from you:
"Our strength grows into mountains into constellations /our hunger into orchards our tenderness into flowers.../ More and more we become everything / Nothing can be taken from us" - Vasko Popa
This is pure bravery and heart in written form. You’ve given me a powerful insight into a lived experience I have no experience with. What more can a writer be challenged to do? Incredible work Nadia
Oh wow, thank you so much, Taegan! That's always a plus when others can understand and empathize with an experience they don't experience. Maybe creative writing and poetry are great conduits of that!
You write so beautifully and openly about a very difficult subject. As someone who suffers from chronic (but mostly mild) pain, I'm so grateful to be able to immerse myself in writing that takes it away. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Wendy! I'm sorry you struggle with chronic pain. It's never easy. You're courageous and strong and also an extremely talented and skilled writer and lovely human. I hope you get more moments of respite.
You were sent from beyond to speak truths I’ll hear nowhere else. What a blessing you are to me and everyone who is fortunate enough to read your gorgeous words. Thank you for rising above the prison of pain with a voice that is cradled with the wisdom of eternity. Sending love and light and gratitude to you always.
I've seen chronic pain first hand in my partner over the last year, it is awful and terrifying, and I can't imagine it stretched into a lifetime. What a testament that you write with such beauty and grace, and still see hope in the world. 💜💜💜
I'm so sorry you're both dealing with that. I wish you both strength. Thank you so much. It definitely takes practice to be patient and laughter to not go coo-coo.
'Between the nuances of pain, there are nuances of soul. It’s impossible for life to just be pain and no cracks of light, no peak experiences, no pauses of contentment and calm, no soul.'
Thank you so much, David. I hope you'll get featured on Substack. Your work is stupendous. I recommended Substack to feature your piece on Giovanni's Room. It's a chef's kiss!
Your portrait is stunning; alongside your beauty I see the veil of pain, and I am so sorry you suffer so much. Chronic pain is cruel and limiting; I am thankful that through writing and through virtual connection you can still achieve so much and touch so many of us readers.💜
Pain is. And we are. Our response to "what is" does alter what it can do to us, or at least that's what we think when in reality we do so much to ourselves than "what is". But then what might happen when hope intercepts what afflicts us? Nadia happens, of course! You indeed have so much hope. It's viral. I am feeling hopeful myself. I'm going to be alright. So will you, including everyone in this comments section and beyond. Wonderful things can happen, "when hope writes". Thank you for sharing your story, Nadia. I needed this reminder, and I'm sure others did too.

And likewise to you. May we look forward to a bright and reasonably healthy future!
I'll high five to that!

Very touching. Thank you. It reminds me how privileged I am, physically at a minimum.
We all have our burdens and stresses. What you're going through can't be easy. Thank you for your support, Michael!
